Really, I'd love to know. Trying to keep up is like trying to bail out a boat with a soup ladle! Watching agencies and service businesses scale their tech stack as new tools pop up is both fascinating and overwhelming. Bigger agencies, with their IT teams, tend to keep things in check by running small pilot programs to gatekeep, while smaller agencies add tools as the need arises.

I’m a fan of a combo technique—create a solid framework for learning and deploying new tools with a pilot program, but also give everyone a little experimental sandbox (while keeping it secure, of course). That way, your team can explore what works for them and share the knowledge.

How often should perform a tech audit?

Well, that depends—are you scaling fast? Are you adding tools constantly, or only when you need them? Ideally, run an audit every six months, but if you're adding tools regularly, evaluate every time a new one gets added.

So why do an audit?

Cost Savings: Regular audits help you spot tools that are underused, redundant, or just plain unnecessary. If something’s not pulling its weight, it’s time to say goodbye.
